BIO - Malaika Wainwright
I was born in Malaysia in 2006 to a Chinese mother and German father. After moving to Singapore and then Hong Kong, I currently live in Germany where I attend an English speaking international school. I have been playing classical piano since age 4 and have been regularly performing in public since age 6. My biggest performances so far have been my own evening concert at the Oratorium of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France in 2018, and as a guest pianist of the Kammerorchester Unter den Linden at the Berliner Philharmonie in 2019. Another Concert at the Oratorium of the Louvre Museum in 2020 was cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Besides playing classical piano, I also enjoy composing modern songs and playing guitar. In 2020 I won the German national songwriting contest "Treffen Junge Musikszene", but the prize, which would have included performing one of my songs at the 37th annual Berliner Fespiele, was delayed until November 2021 due to the pandemic. On this website you can find videos of some of my piano performances as well as mp3s of some of my own compositions.
